Dr. Finley joined the Economics Department and Sigmund Weis School of Business in Fall 2017 after earning her Ph.D. in Economics from George Mason University. Prior to that, she received a Master of Science in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics with a minor in French from James Madison University.

At SU, she regularly teaches Intermediate Macroeconomics, Economic Policy, Economic History as well as Principles of Macroeconomics and Principles of Microeconomics. She has also led and periodically teaches Global Business Perspectives, the introductory class for all business majors. In 2021, she received the Sigmund Weis School of Business Award for Outstanding Teaching and Advising in recognition of leading Global Business Perspectives through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Finley’s research interests include economic growth, economic history, institutional economics, and the economics of religion. She has published in highly ranked economics journals, including the Journal of Law and Economics and the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization. Outside of her work at SU, she serves on the Board of Trustees for the Economic and Business History Society.
